Technologies Developed/Implemented in the field, www.dsttara.in since 2020.

1. Nutraceutical/Functional foods:

i) Nutraceutical biscuits from traditional millets:Nutraceutical biscuits were prepared from traditional millets analyzed at CFTRI Mysore for nutraceutical values. Trained various VO,s, women SHGs and Farmers groups in product preparation.FARMERS group at Nagwain, manufacturing and marketing these biscuits at local level under FSSAI license.

ii) Enrichment of fruit drinks with pectin solution: Pectin solution extracted in 3 % of citric acid solution.Extracted 10 litre of pectin solution having acidity of 3.2 % used in 100 liter of Mango drink. This gave us a drink of optimum acidity and product of desired consistency.

2. Technology improvement and scientific validation of traditional fermented beverages (SUR) in distt. Kullu H.P. :Protocol/process refined and standardized. Samples analysed at AAL Biosciences Research Pvt Ltd. Panchkula (ISO, GLP and NABL Accredited) for analysis and scientific validation.The final evaluation of the results of the products which include the Chemical Parameters, Heavy Metals, Naturally Occurring Toxic Substances, Crop Contaminants, Identification of Genetically Modified Organism, Nutritional analysis, and 16s Meta Genome & Analysis places the product in potent probiotic category.

3. Design & fabrication of emulsion making unit with variable duties.(To break and emulsify Aloe-vera juice fiber in wild apricot oil): Our organization is also involved in natural moisturizers, which requires a compact unit to prepare these products. 25 kg Cap. SS made, Unit fabricated at GAK Mohali and Trial demonstration have been carried out successfully for product making at our field station, Nagwain. Women SHGs and FARMERS group trained in preparation of these products.

4. Herbal Soaps based on wild apricot oil & natural saponins from soap nut using natural aromatics: Toilet/bath and laundry/washing Soaps standardized and analyzed at PPC-IRTC Core group Lab.) Kerala and Shri Ram Institute for Industrial Research, Delhi (NABL accredited lab.) Found to comply with IS standards. Trained about 25 women SHGs in soap making.7 women SHGs and 1 Kisan Club making and selling soaps at locally.Under process to produce and market through FARMERS group under SSI registration.

Aloe vera

Activities Implemented after 2020 through DST Core Support.

1. Cultivation and distillation of wild marigold in farmer's field: In technical collaboration with IHBT Palampur, organization introduced cultivation of wild marigold involving initially about 25 farmers of Parwai village in Chamba district. A oil distillation unit of 20 kg capacity installed in the village, farmers group trained in agro-technology of wild marigold and now doing cultivation and distillation of oil themselves.In 2 years distilled about 18 kg of oil. Sold at Rs. 9500/- and Rs. 12000/- per kg.

2. Raising of nursery of lavender & Rosemary in poly-tunnels: Raised 34000 cuttings in 5 poly-tunnels and sold 7000 rooted plants to IHBT. Rest growing as mother plants in poly-tunnels.

3. Value added products from Rhododendron flowers: Established social enterprise and trained Farmers core group in value added products from Rhododendron flowers. Local Farmers group manufacturing and marketing at local level under FSSAI license.

8. Technology adaptation of High Density Plantation of apples on root stocks using drip irrigation system: Organization is also involved in promotion of new cultural practices in apple cultivation which is major cash fruit crop in Himachal Pradesh. We have established demonstration plots on semi-dwarf and dwarf root stocks of apples and installed drip irrigation in these plots in technical collaboration with Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Solan (H.P).
